Before you buy that Dog Toy - PLEASE learn more about how DOGS see color. What's up with all those Red & Green Christmas toys? Just for OUR enjoyment?

Dogs can't even see the colors Red and Green!
Hmmm.... Think about all that color dye being wasted in the making of all those dog toys!
Here are some sites with more information on what our canine loved ones are actually seeing. Dog & human color bands (electromagnetic spectrums) for comparison can be viewed in the second link.
Photograph of Miniature Pinscher by a good friend (who also makes beautiful custom pet jewelry BTW-the above necklace is made using REAL Pearls & Sterling Silver!)..... Thanks again to this talented Richmond, Virginia jeweler!

I have not gone to these links yet but what I remember reading about dogs and color vision is that the best color for them to make out is the color purple .... the info was in a cool training book and offered as a tip in helping you to more easily train your dog to heel... that wearing purple socks while training would help the dog more quickly pick out the area he needed to be walking at and close to.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Socks tip sure makes sense... thanks! Until I ran across this info I couldn't figure out my dog's preferences regarding the toys I brought home. Now I am understanding his choices a little better. Also I didn't know that they are nearsighted too. ;0)
Happy Thanksgiving to you Kat!!!!!

Looking at the links to dog vision it seems the best sock to wear and the best toy to give might be of the color Royal Blue :-)

I also found information that toys with patterns in two colors - one white or bright yellow and the other very dark such as the blue you suggest - is a good choice. Think a striped material might be appropriate? Thought I might sew some up for my Min Pin and crochet a few for my cats. Let you know how it turns out ;0)
